Whakatakapokai is Kingslea School’s site based at the youth justice residence in Manurewa, South Auckland.
Catering for up to 20 young people aged 10 to 16 (mixed gender) residence which was opened in July 2006.
The team at Whakatakapokai have a ratio of one teacher to five students and deliver a learning programme that is tailored to meet the specific learning needs and interests of each young person. There is a strong focus on literacy and numeracy and all aspects of the programme are trauma-informed.
