Kingslea School Foundation

Leave a gift in your Will, after you have looked after your family and friends.
A gift in your Will to the Kingslea School Foundation is a very special act of kindness that will help vulnerable kiwi kids reach their educational potential so they can thrive and lead flourishing lives.

Why leave a gift to the Kingslea School Foundation?

Kingslea is not like any other school in New Zealand. We are a special, composite, decile one, state school delivering education for children and young people in Oranga Tamariki residential and community care. All of our students fit the Ministry of education profile for priority learners and come to us for Care and Protection and/or Youth Justice related issues.
Our classroom dynamics can change daily and students can be with us for anywhere between two days and two years.
We are significantly reliant on the generosity of New Zealanders to supplement our government funding. People who are passionate about helping disadvantaged children succeed and thrive beyond their circumstances through the precious gift they leave in their Will.

Making a gift in your Will
When preparing your Will, we recommend you seek the assistance of a professional trustee company (such as Perpetual Guardian Trust), or your family solicitor to ensure your wishes are properly recorded. You will also need to tell them what kind of gift you would like to make. There are a variety of ways to leave a gift in your Will to the Kingslea School Foundation,  depending on what suits you best:

  • Residuary Bequest – here you make a gift to the Kingslea School Foundation of what is left over or a percentage thereof (the residue) in your estate after all expenses and debts have been settled and your loved ones have been provided for.
  • Pecuniary Bequest – this means a specified sum of money in your Will is gifted to the Kingslea School Foundation.
  • Specified Bequest – this is where a particular item of value (for example stocks and shares, property or works of art) is gifted to the Kingslea School Foundation in your Will.

To ensure that the wording in your Will accurately describes your intentions, we recommend including one of the following clauses:

  • I give $ to the Kingslea School Foundation (CC51167). Without imposing a
binding trust, I ask that these funds be used for the benefit of ____________________________________________. A receipt appearing to my Trustee to be given on behalf of the PERPETUAL GUARDIAN FOUNDATION will be a complete discharge to my Trustee for the gift.
  • I give [the rest] of my estate to my Trustee on trust. Out of this my Trustee will pay my debts, all funeral, memorial and estate administration costs and all taxes payable on my estate.
  • My Trustee will transfer what remains of my estate (“my Remaining Estate) to the KINGSLEA SCHOOL FOUNDATION (CC51167).
